Well, here we are almost an entire week old! Tomorrow will be her full 1 week but here at the hospital but they call today her 7th day of life- just to clear up any confusion with the day names... if there are any... maybe that's just me. So, let's talk more about Cecilia! So far we have come a long way- it's amazing how much a baby changes in such a short amount of time, but it's happening even as I type this. We've had appointments here in the room with the cardiologist, the neonatologist and the occupational therapist and each one of them has been surprised and impressed with her progress. Usually ds babies have a pretty difficult time feeding, and that's not to say we haven't but Cecilia has eaten 68% of her total goal so far- and that's really really good! Every 3 hours we take her temperature, change her diaper and feed her- and that's it- no meds, no treatments, just regular baby stuff guided by icu nurses- She eats about 70mL/feed via bottle or her ng-tube. Today she has already had 3 bottles and only an unfinished portion of her last feeding was given through the ng tube. She was just so sleepy! The reason they have problems feeding varies but in her case she just gets tuckered out and falls asleep :) As she grows and time goes on she will get stronger and stay awake longer for the feedings. She's getting a mix of my milk and donor breast milk but I think today will be the last of that because my production is on like for real- she makes a tiny cry peep- it comes. Crazy crazy mammal stuff. She doesn't really cry much (yet? haha) and she's super tolerant of all the stuff- like the monitor pads and the ng tube- the only times she is all angry scrunch face is during some of the diaper/outfit changes. She gets her second bath tonight so I'll take some pictures for proof! I know this isn't much for now but Corey brought us Porque no? taqueria bowls and I need to go consume for more Sara-juice! We love you guys and here is a little video to stare at aaand Cecilia's song of the day- here are the lyrics in case you don't have time to jam to the 5 minute tune :)
The shore
I can see the shore from here
I see your town, your house and you
The score is
I count the letters of your name
I count the days 'til you are here again
Day 7
And I'm love galore
